September 2007
by Judith Webb
In March 2006 we held a very
successful exhibition at the Cow Byre in Ruislip.
Those members who wished to
participate each selected a panel of six prints to display. The
subject matter varied from landscape to seascapes, photojournalism
to the surreal. The photographs were viewed by over 300 people
during the week of the exhibition. It was gratifying to hear the
many favourable comments. Unfortunately the pictures were not for
sale, as quite a few people enquired about purchasing them. The
exhibition was the finalisation of the Society’s undertaking for the
“Awards for All” Lottery grant. Previously to this, successful
digital workshops with accompanying information sheets were held for
the public. So successful, that requests have been received for
more workshops.
The club has just concluded
their Summer Programme which included visits to Hambledon, London
Zoo, Canary Wharf, Kenwood House, the London Salon Exhibition and a
member’s garden party.
Last season we were entertained
with some outstanding photography, presented on many themes, by some
excellent photographers who really felt deeply about their art and
the subject upon which they were focussing.
We are now into our Winter
Programme which runs from the beginning of September to the end of
May. There are many interesting lectures booked for us to enjoy and
of course we will now be starting in earnest to prepare some
photographs for the forthcoming exhibitions and competitions.
We are a small friendly group
who love photography, and are keen to share this passion with
others. If you are interested, please come along to a meeting –
there is no obligation to join, just enjoy yourself.
